Augustine Colebrook, CPM, LM, Owner & Director
Augustine is an accomplished management executive with strong entrepreneurial heart, who takes much joy in mainstreaming midwifery and the midwifery model of care by bringing the modern community-centered birth center choice to all low risk women. After attending her first homebirth at eight years of age with her midwife aunt in Colorado, she knew her life’s path. Her personal experience of preparing for, laboring and birthing at home unassisted influences her work. She respects a woman’s need for the empowering feeling of being undisturbed during labor.
An apprentice-trained midwife, Augustine has worked in different cultural environments and countries, including a rural Jamaican hospital, a birth center in Denmark, dirt floor huts in Mexico, and many homes in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida and Oregon. Having attended births as a midwife for more than 14 years, Augustine’s focus is finely attuned to the process of letting go and opening to the unknown in labor and in life, and this process of opening is what she teaches in her Art of Birthing Childbirth Education Classes. It is her profound joy to illuminate the sacred journey of pregnancy for other women, and to that end, Augustine began offering Sacred Pregnancy classes in 2013. Augustine is a Nationally Certified Professional Midwife and an Oregon State Licensed Midwife, who is taking a sabbatical from providing direct patient care to grow Wise Women Care Associates, Trillium Waterbirth Center, and the innovative model of the community holistic health center. During her sabbatical, Augustine will also be devoting her time to a book and film project, and the creation of the Sacred Birth Practitioner & Sacred Birth Space Certification.
